Symphony Season Schedule 2016-2017


November 12th – “A Salute to America”

This concert will feature Copland’s “Appalachian Spring” and Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue”. Our guest artists will be pianist Kadisha Onalbayeva and the Kazakh String Quartet (national string quartet of Kazakhstan) appearing in Albany prior to their Carnegie Hall debut. In recognition of Veteran’s Day we will perform a salute to our Armed Forces.

February 11th – “A Romantic Evening”

A concert of German Romantics favorites will be featured. The ASO will perform Schumann’s “Concertpiece for 4 Horns and Orchestra” and German Romantic classics by Mendelssohn and others with Guest Artists, the Transatlantic French Horn Quartet.

March 25th – “A French Excursion”

Joining the ASO will be a combined chorus made up of Southwest Georgia college choruses and community choirs performing Durufle’s gorgeously impressionistic “Requiem.” Also, to be heard is the impressionistic masterpiece by Claude Debussy “La Mer,” depicting the moods of the sea.

All these concerts will be in the Municipal Auditorium – doors open at 6 p.m., Pre-Concert notes at 6:30 p.m. and the performance begins at 7:30 p.m.

Conductor's Circle

Become a member of the ASO’s Conductor’s Reception – immediately following each concert at the Albany Area Arts Council (Carnegie Library). As you enjoy refreshments you can mingle with other members as you meet and greet the Maestro and Guest Artists. Admission is $20 each concert or you may purchase a season membership for $55.
